Social enterprises are entrepreneurial organizations that innovate to solve problems. While the main objective of Kairos Project 17 is to move families and youth into safe permanent housing, we also believe that it is our responsibility to:
- Educate the communities we serve about the myths surrounding situational homelessness, through social media campaigns and events.
- Provide intake and post-placement statistics about the communities we serve.
Kairos Project 17 will create a KP17 Teen Ambassador Board. The goals of this board will
- Develop and implement a social media campaign focused on educating communities about the realities of family and youth homelessness, i.e., living in cars and “shelter hopping,” the fear of losing your children, managing personal hygiene, and the dangers, especially for young ladies who are on their own. Education is especially important within the schools. The more school peers understand, the more likely they can look at these people with empathy instead of disgust and begin working toward universal solutions.
- Develop a unique, annual, community fundraiser that will raise awareness about the number of people impacted by situational homelessness in our community and assist in funding an “emergency fund” that people within the KP17 community can apply for in case of need.
Kairos Project 17 will gather statistics regarding the community of people served and share those statistics with the government and care providers so that each community that Kairos Project 17 operates in, can have a better understanding of the how these people became homeless and the duration of their homelessness prior to being placed into permanent housing. In addition, we will also track the success of the families and youth once they are in a safe, permanent housing position to determine the physical and intrinsic impacts of how this new environment has changed how they function within work environments, schools, and the social, emotional and physical changes that have occurred.
